South Market District: Construction begins on Morris Adjmi-designed condos
Construction on the Morris Adjmi-designed condo development coming to the South Market District has begun, according to a press release from the Domain Companies. The company made the announcement after securing $80 million in financing.
The Standard—designed by Adjmi, a New York-based but New Orleans-born and educated architect responsible for this modern Lakeshore home—is the fourth building at the South Market District. The development’s other residential buildings, The Beacon and the Paramount, have apartments.
The building will include 89 one- to three-bedroom condominiums and 24,000 square feet of retail space. The lobby will double as an art gallery featuring “large-scale works by local, national and international artists.”
The window-filled units boast high-end finishes and appliances, including Sub-Zero refrigerators, Wolf ovens and an under-the-counter wine cooler.
Building amenities include a pool deck with cabanas and a pool house; outdoor kitchens; a clubhouse and library with a “chef’s kitchen” and entertainment area; a fitness center; a full-time concierge; storage; and on-site parking.
Woodward Design+Build is the contractor on the project. The Standard is scheduled to be complete in spring 2018.
